The Image of the Year competition marked the end of the season for Dawlish and Teignmouth Camera Club. And what a finale it was!
Despite the fact that the Club meetings could not go ahead because of Coronavirus, Judge, Gordon Aspland, showed determination to carry out his duty by assessing all 59 digital images at home and then recorded his critique on video for members to watch. He then joined in on the Club’s regular Wednesday night meeting on Zoom to announce his award winners.
Gordon recognised the talent of the Club and admitted to it being a very difficult task in only being able to award three prizes overall – although he alluded to several more being in his personal ‘Awards Group’. He also said how much he had enjoyed seeing the variety of images and that he was pleased that the winning photographs represented three very different genres – portrait, natural history and creative.
Competition Secretary, Dave Hutton, thanked Gordon for all the extra work he had done to make the competition possible.
The winners for Image of the Year:
1st prize – David Snow
2nd prize – Barry Holmes
3rd prize – Marc Dunlop
